RSA Green Policy

RSA Ireland is fully committed to being an environmentally friendly company.
Our goal is to become a Carbon Neutral company by the end of the year.

There are two main aspects of green issues that are relevant to us:

  1. Our “internal” emissions associated with our electricity use in the office

Our waste produced
Our waste recycled and our business travel.

  1. Impact issues related to our products and services.

Here at our RSA we are committed to becoming a Carbon Neutral Company and it is important to us that all our staff share this commitment and have are aware of the importance of the benefits of becoming Carbon Neutral to us as a company and the environment as a whole.

RSA as a Group have made a commitment to environmental action in our group wide business principals so it’s a fundamental part of how we do business.

It is essential to our business and the environment that we ensure the following:

1) We Reduce all waste, we Recycle where appropriate and Reuse where necessary. These are key when it comes to maintaining a cleaner and greener environment. We piloted the removal of all personal bins from staff to encourage recycling. This has been a great success and will continue for all staff in Dundrum.
We have also introduced recycling areas to all floors to improve our use of recycling.

2) Reduce Electricity. It is company policy to turn off all lights and machines such as computers and photocopiers when not in use. In the first six months of our Green Team promoting the reduction of our energy use we had reduced our ESB bills by over 16% each month.

3) Print only when absolutely necessary. At RSA we promote the use of email rather then sending letters and memos.

We have a Green Team which was set up by staff members who volunteered to develop the Green Agenda within RSA.  This has the full support of all senior management and is hugely supported by staff who all signed up to become more environmentally friendly.
Their objective is to educate, promote and encourage RSA employees to take personal responsibility for the environment both in the office and at home. They also identify opportunities for improving our environmental performance throughout the company.
They communicate our green message through the intranet site, posters, emails, employee induction packs, our staff magazine and Green notice Boards.

Rewarding our Green Customers
Hybrid car drivers now benefit from a significant discount off their motor insurance in a move by RSA Ireland to reward environmentally – friendly driving. This reduction in premiums for customers with hybrid vehicles was introduced in December 06.
